Samson Arakelyan: «Feedback from the League is essential»

Astana General Director Samson Arakelyan shared his impressions after meeting with VTB United League President Sergey Kushchenko, who attended the home match of the Kazakhstani club against CSKA Moscow.

– This is a person whom I looked up to in many aspects. He is probably the best manager in Russia, and as far as I remember, he was also recognized in Europe. He is a man with vast experience, and the innovations he once implemented in Perm are an example for me to follow.

The meeting went very well. As a new leader and a person who brought changes to the club's work, it was important for me for the League to evaluate, approve or reject some of the things we are now introducing into the club's work. This feedback is essential, and when there is an opportunity to discuss it personally, it is very worth it. Therefore, I am grateful to Sergei Valentinovich for coming and for his attention.

As a bonus, of course, we managed to hit the court and play a small friendly match. Sergei Valentinovich impressed us once again, scoring 33 points, which was, I guess, 11 three-pointers. This is an example of how a person really loves basketball — both on and off the court. I hope that such meetings can take place regularly in the future.
