Akop Hadzhiryan: «The second season of WASL will be decisive»

Akop Hadzhiryan, Executive Director of FIBA Asia, emphasized that the second season of the West Asia Super League (WASL) will be crucial for the tournament's long-term future.

Mr. Hadzhiryan is proud to see his brainchild come to life, as he had dreamt of such high-level competitions in the region. The West Asia Super League aims to help national federations and teams reach a new level in terms of gameplay and organization of competitions.

Preliminarily, the second season of the West Asia Super League is set to commence in October. The decision has been made to shorten its duration from 8 months to 6 to align with the calendars of national leagues.

Akop Hadzhiryan also expressed hope that the participating teams will further increase their level, enabling them to showcase competitive basketball while participating in multiple tournaments at the same time.

According to the Executive Director of FIBA Asia, clubs' interest in the tournament's inaugural season and the demonstrated level of play are highly promising.
