Lost to «Runa»

«Astana» played its penultimate home game of the VTB United League regular season against Moscow's «Runa».

Fans who came to the «Saryarka» velodrome to support their team witnessed a tense and challenging match. The first quarter ended with a slight advantage for the visitors, but «Astana» went into the halftime break leading by 7 points.  However, in the second half, «Runa» made a comeback and secured a victory with a score of 79:87.

The top performers for our team were Markell Johnson (27 points, 6 assists), Jordan Skipper-Brown (16 points), and Rustam Murzagaliyev (12 points, 5 rebounds).

«It was a tough game for both sides, with both teams facing difficulties. Coming out of the locker room after the halftime break, we played more aggressively and intelligently in defense. I want to congratulate my players on a victory in a very important game. Now we are looking forward to an even more important match – we will return to Moscow, where we will play against MBA,» said Runa's head coach Ertugrul Erdogan at the end of the game.

Unfortunately, this means that the Kazakhstan team no longer contends for a spot in the VTB United League play-in this season – only MBA and «Runa» remain in the race for the last ticket.

The team has an away series ahead, and the final home game of the regular season will take place on April 14th against «Samara». Tickets will go on sale soon.
