VTB United League Season Closed with a Victory!

On Sunday, «Astana» played their final match of the current VTB United League season at home, where Fotios Takianos's team defeated «Samara.»

The match was fiercely contested—no quarter was won by either team by a margin of three points or more. This led to overtime, where the players from the Kazakhstani club proved stronger, clinching a 94:92 victory.

Markell Johnson was the undisputed leader of the match with 39 points and 5 assists. Devin Davis also performed well, scoring 19 points with 11 rebounds, and Vadim Shcherbak added 12 points.

«Congratulations to «Astana.» I want to discuss our preparation: Winning this match was a significant goal for me, but for the first time, I have to admit  I witnessed that the players just didn't show up for the game. And that is my fault as a coach. In my philosophy, such a mindset should not exist in sports,» commented Samara's head coach, Drazen Anzulovic.

The season is not yet over for our team: in May, «Astana» will compete in the RK Super Cup and the Western Asian Super League.
