Basketball club “Astana” has announced a temporary suspension of its participation in the VTB United League for the 2025/2026 season. The decision follows constructive discussions with league management, with whom the club maintains strong working relations and mutual understanding.
The reason for this decision is the limited time available to adapt to new regulations and legislative changes that directly impact team roster formation. At present, the club is unable to secure foreign players of the required level.
This is a temporary measure aimed at internal restructuring, a review of the financial model, and building a stable foundation for future re-entry into the league. Both the club and the VTB United League leadership remain committed to Astana’s eventual return to competition.
The club looks to the future with optimism and is grateful for continued government support in the development of local athletes.
