On Sunday, 17 August, Basketball Club Astana hosted a special masterclass for children from the Centre for Supporting Children in Need of Special Social Services of the Akmola Region Education Department, as well as for participants of the Auyl Sport project.
The initiative was held with support from Astana’s partner — the Tourism and Sports Industry Support Fund.
Assistant coach Anton Ponomarev, along with Astana-Zhastar players Askar Serimbet, Abilaykhan Zhandarbek, Mikhail Chopov, Islam Zharekeyev, and Sanzhar Aubakirov, visited the village of Kazhymukan. At the local sports and wellness centre, they led a warm-up session, a basketball masterclass, and a friendly match for the children.
The event was dedicated to Sports Day in the Republic of Kazakhstan. It began with a welcoming speech from Anton Ponomarev, followed by a warm-up led by Askar Serimbet, who also shared tips on preparing for a game. During the masterclass, young participants were introduced to the fundamentals of basketball, and the day concluded with a friendly 3-on-3 match, which saw the Auyl Sport team take the win.
BC Astana continues to actively support social initiatives that promote grassroots sport and popularise basketball among children and youth.
