Astana continue their title push in the Kazakhstan National League and will open 2026 with a road trip to Atyrau, where they’ll take on Barsy Atyrau in back-to-back games. The matches will be played on 20 and 21 January, strating at 19:00, at Airom Arena.

The capital side go into the series on an unbeaten run in the domestic league and will be looking to keep that momentum going as the third round of the season gets underway.

The two teams have a long history. Since the 2014/15 season, they’ve faced each other 75 times, with Astana winning in 64 of those games. Their most recent games took place in Astana on 25 and 26 November, where the hosts secured comfortable wins — 78:61 and 96:63.

Astana’s offence continues to be led by E.J. Day, who is averaging 22.5 points per game and also leads the team in assists with 8 per game. Under the basket, Askar Maidyekin has been a key presence, pulling down 7 rebounds per game on average.

For Barsy Atyrau, import Michael Mays is the main scoring threat, averaging 23.75 points per game. Bogdan Rabchenyuk leads the team in assists (2.75 per game), while Ramazan Samsin tops the rebounding charts with 7 per game.

Astana begin the third round of the National League away from home, with their next home games still some way off — making support from fans all the more important during this stretch.
