Astana are on the road again, this time travelling to Kostanay for two National League games against Tobol. The games will be played on 26 and 27 January at 19:00 at the Kostanay Sports Complex.

Both teams are entering their second series of the year. Astana arrive after back-to-back away wins over Barsy Atyrau (79:50, 97:68), while Tobol are still looking for their first victory of 2026 following losses to Almaty Legion (89:125, 56:105).

Tobol have been dealing with lineup challenges since the start of the season. Key players Shaim Kuanov and Anton Bykov missed time through injury. The team captain remains sidelined, but Bykov has recently returned and is beginning to find his rhythm again.

Astana’s top scorer so far is centre Askar Maidyekin, who is averaging 14 points per game. Robert Pan leads the team in rebounding with 6.17 boards per game, while E.J. Day continues to run the offence, averaging 6.25 assists per game.

For Tobol, Pavel Ilyin is the main offensive threat, averaging 14.53 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, although he did not feature in their most recent match against Almaty Legion. Adilbek Bitenov leads the team in assists with 2.78 per game.

The two sides have faced each other 56 times, with Astana winning 49 of those meetings. Their last clash came on 16 December, when Astana claimed a convincing 108:67 home win. Amirali Suleimenov led the way that night with 18 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds.
