Astana on 11 February fell 106–57 away to Lebanon’s Al Riyadi in the FIBA WASL West Asia League.
The hosts — and reigning champions — set the tone straight away, playing at a high pace and opening up a 33–19 lead after the first quarter. They kept coming in the second period, turning the game into a runaway before the break and going into halftime up 67–32.
Astana’s brightest moments came from their local leaders. Robert Pan finished with 15 points, while Askar Maidekin added 11. But overall, Astana couldn’t find the same spark they had shown a week earlier against Sagesse, and this became their biggest loss of the WASL season.
After seven rounds, both teams sit at 5–2, but the size of Al Riyadi’s win sends them back to the top of the standings.
Astana stay on the road for one more game. Their next WASL matchup is on 19 February against Syria’s Al Wahda in Beirut — the final stop of this road trip.
